Anchorages in the Bristol Channel can be amazing. Tenby is a case in point, a level sandy bottom, good shelter in prevailing winds and a beautiful town ashore with quaint bars, good restaurants and an amazing sandy beach. You may have to carry your tender a fair way up the beach so it's good to travel light. See the "Your Anchorages" tab on the BCYA web site www.bcya.org.uk for recommendations.

Oxwich Bay on the Gower Peninsular is the kind of anchorage that makes the Bristol Channel a truely amazing area to sail. Sheltered from prevailing winds by a promontory with good holding on a nice sandy bottom. Ashore there is sand, sand and more sand and a hotel serving food and drinks. For anchoring tips at Oxwich Bay check out the "Your Anchorages" tab on the BCYA website www.bcya.org.uk
