Sadly we understand that Challenge Wales will be making her final voyage at the end of this month. She has been a familiar sight on the Bristol Channel for many years. Like many sail training charities before, funding issues have forced this situation. The good news is that the yacht herself will continue to inspire young people as she will operate as part of The Tall Ships Youth Trust from 1st October based on the south coast.

The PCC HOLMS RACE was run on Saturday. Challenging and changing weather forecasts didn't put many off, as crews from all over the Bristol Channel converged on Portishead ready for the start of the race which takes a course round Flatholm and Steepholm islands before returning to Portishead for the finish. This years overall winner was home club boat "Fly" skippered by Geoff McBroom and the BCYA Top Club trophy (Amalgamated score of top three boats in any club) was won this year by Cardiff Bay Yacht Club. See images below for results, prizewinning crews and race pictures.
Congratulations to Portishead Cruising Club for their professionalism in running the race and to all the crews who enjoyed this classic annual Bristol Channel event.
